Santigold – Disparate Youth

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIMMZQJ1H6E”][vc_column_text]Santigold and Sam Fleischner directed this video, “Disparate Youth”, for the April release of MASTER OF MY MAKE BELIEVE. The track is produced by Brooklyn dancehall wünderkind Ricky Blaze. Shot in the beautiful and lush parish of Portland Jamaica (Trident Castle), the video features Santigold and a crew of kids. Of course, I’m thinking ’bout home and influence of Obeah upon seeing this video.

  1. Is there a cultural significance to this castle in Jamaica? When I was looking at the video I thought it was referencing one of the former slave castles used during the Transatlantic slave trade.

    1. Hi UrbanWhim,

Trident castle was built as a private residence back in 1979. Not much cultural significance unless you count it as a residue of colonialism and an ego of commerce.
